ANSWER: NO! rBST ( Bovine Somatotropin) and rBGH ( Bovine Growth Hormone) are artificial growth hormones that can be administered to dairy cows to increase their milk supply.
While dairy cows have their own hormones, these artificial hormones can be given to enhance milk production. For the past 10 years Ingles Markets has worked with local dairy farmers who certify that the do not administer artificial growth hormones (rBST and rBGH) to their cows. We even have this on the label of our Laura Lynn milk and on in-store posters!
