Stamey named new Haywood EMS director
Canton native Marty Stamey has been named the new director of Haywood County’s Emergency Medical Services program.
Stamey, who began his duties on Jan. 15, will be responsible for managing Haywood County’s paramedics and ambulances, as well as billing for emergency services. He served as Emergency Medical Services director for the county from 1992 to 1998, when he left to coordinate Emergency Services education for Haywood Community College.
In 2001, he became Regional Transport Services manager for Mission Health and Hospitals in Asheville.
A 1976 graduate of Pisgah High School, Stamey said he is excited to be working in Haywood County again.
“It is great to be able to come back to Haywood County,” Stamey said. “It is an excellent opportunity. A lot of people had approached me about coming back. I’m looking forward to working to make Haywood County EMS the best that it can be.”
