Pottery festival fires up in Dillsboro
The 10th annual WNC Pottery Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in downtown Dillsboro.
Featuring 40 potters, the festival recently was recognized as one of the Top 20 Events by the Southeast Tourism Society, an organization representing 12 states. Live demonstrations throughout the day, artisan booths, and more. The Clay Olympics will also be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Tree House Pottery in Dillsboro.

The Sylva Photography Club will host a photography contest of the WNC Pottery Festival during the event. All photos will be judged by Club members on Nov. 8 at the club’s monthly meeting. Three photos per club member per category in the eight categories will be accepted in digital format. An additional Best of Show category is open to members as well as to non-members. The eight categories are: Human Interest, Crowd Shots of WNC Pottery Festival, Demonstration during Festival (not Olympics), Clay Olympics, Happy Purchasers, Raffle Winners (pottery awarded hourly to attendees), Community Table Booth and Kids at Festival or Clay Olympics. All category winners will receive a nice piece of pottery, and Best of Show will win a special pottery prize, all donated by Treehouse Pottery of Dillsboro. Submission rules will be available at the club’s tent at the festival.
