Bachelor auction to raise funds for WOW
With less than two weeks to go, the Women of Waynesville (WOW) are eager with excitement to bring to Haywood County the first ever Bachelors Ball for Belles auction and fundraiser.
With 10 eager bachelors and ticket sales on the rise it is clear that the community is also standing by for this eventful and memorable evening.
“At this point, it is the true moment of conviction and understanding of why we took off the year 2015,” said Nikki White, WOW president. “With the momentum that these women have brought to the table in such a remarkable amount of time has proven over and over again the power of group consciousness.”
Women of Waynesville, on behalf of this community and its support, have generated more than $6,000 in gift packages and auction items. Some of the packages are inclusive of weekend getaways, overnight stays at local bed and breakfasts, dinner at high end restaurants, such as the Chef’s Table, whitewater rafting for two, theme park tickets, facials, massages, with the high-dollar ticket item being a $1,600 value to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort.
“It is remarkable what comes from this community when a need is called upon,” said WOW member Jessi Stone. “No matter how big or little the ask, it is often met without contingencies, and continues to instill the notion that this community will go above and beyond to meet its needs."
The Women of Waynesville have been preparing for this event since September of last year. “With the time and energy we have put into this process, there is no doubt in my mind that this will not only be a success, but a night to remember,” states Katie Higgs, WOW treasurer.
The evening will begin with the doors opening at the Laurel Ridge Country Club at 6 p.m. Guests will be greeted with friendly and familiar faces of our local community at the time they arrive. The ambiance will be inviting and intimate.
The WOW organization have procured 10 of the most willing and eligible bachelors in the community, with their ages ranging from mid-20s to late 60s, it remains as an open ball field of opportunity for bachelorettes of all ages. However, this event has been carefully designed to appeal to everyone, whether single, married, in a relationship, looking for love or not. During the auction, each bachelor will randomly choose a package that has been carefully designed by the all-women’s organization.
guests will also have the opportunity to bid on an additional six packages aside from those that are attached to the bachelors. There is a certain right of refusal that is granted to each bachelor as well as to each bidding individual. This means, that if there is a package of interest attached to a bachelor or non-interest to the bidding individual, that individual reserves the right to take the package without the bachelor, and vice-versa.
“We had to be careful in securing the comfortability of all parties involved in the bidding process,” explains Michelle Briggs, WOW vice-president.
At the end of the day this event is a fundraising effort for the Women of Waynesville to raise funds and awareness of their continued mission of supporting the needs of women and children in Haywood County.
“I believe you should do what you can to give back, and the ladies in WOW have continued to give to local charities that have made a difference in many lives. I am also looking to step out of the box for myself,” shares Ande Grantham, WOW bachelor.
Since 2012, the Women of Waynesville has produced and executed more than a dozen fundraisers and has given back to Haywood County more than $35,000. The Bachelor Balls for Belles will be their first fundraiser to raise money to go towards their continued efforts of supporting the needs of our community. A portion of the money raised will go to the Haywood County School Foundation in support of raising funds and awareness for our local public schools.
