Voting begins March 3
The 2016 Primary Election will be held March 15 and polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Early voting for the primary will be held March 3-12.
Haywood County locations
• Senior Resource Center, 81 Elmwood Way, Waynesville
• Clyde Municipal Building, 8437 Carolina Blvd., Clyde
• Canton Public Library, 11 Pennsylvania Ave., Canton
• Weekdays — 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, March 5, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 12, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Jackson County locations
• Jackson County Board of Elections Office, 876 Skyland Drive, Sylva
• Cashiers Recreation Center, 355 Frank Allen Road, Cashiers

Voters must show photo ID
New voter identification laws are in effect for the 2016 elections, meaning voters should be prepared to show a valid form of photo identification at the polls during the March 15 primary election. The following forms of photo ID are acceptable:
• NC driver’s license, learner’s permit or provisional license
• Special ID card (N.C. DMV ID card)
• U.S. passport
• U.S. military ID (retired, active, dependents and civilian)
• U.S. Veterans ID issued by Veterans Affairs
• Tribal enrollment card issued by federally recognized tribe
• Tribal enrollment card issued by a N.C. recognized tribe
• Out-of-state driver’s license, only if the voter registers to vote in the county within 90 days of the election.
