The Dirty John Shooting Range in the Nantahala National Forest near Franklin will be closed for upgrades Thursday, Aug. 2, and is expected to reopen the following day.
The U.S. Forest Service will be improving target holders and installing a system similar to that at the Moss Knob Shooting Range. Metal rods will replace vertical wood posts for a more durable and long-lasting system to support netting used to hang targets.
