Canoe Slalom a success

More than 50 people competed in the ninth annual Cullowhee Canoe Slalom Sept. 22, raising more than $300 for the Western Carolina University Parks and Recreation Management Scholarship Fund.
Listed from first to third place, winners in each category were:
- Tandem canoe: Todd and Griffin Murdock, Debby and Mark Singleton, Burt and Becky Kornegay.
- Solo canoe: Todd Murdock, Ryan Smith, Burt Kornegay.
- Men’s paddle board: Glenn Middleton, Mark Singleton, Andrew Bobilya.
- Women’s paddle board: Becca Lee, Debby Singleton, Charlotte Masters.
- Men’s kayak: Maurice Phipps, Todd Murdock, Andrew Bobilya.
- Women’s kayak: Greta C. Durbin, Allie Pratt, Cindy Phipps.
- Kids’ kayak: Ellie Padgett, Lilyanne Bobilya, Anna C. Kempker.
Hosted by WCU Parks and Recreation Management students and the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department, and held on the Tuckasegee River.
