Incumbent Mayor Bob Scott has won his fourth term in office against challenger Barbara McRae. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Scott garnered 322 votes (60 percent of the vote) to McRae’s 213 votes. Scott will serve another two-year term as mayor.

In the alderman race, challenger Mike Lewis was the top vote-getter with 301 votes. Incumbent Joe Collins was the second highest voter-getter with 300 votes. Jack Horton, former county manager for Macon and Haywood counties, will also take a seat on the board with 284 votes.

Even though McRae lost the mayoral election, she will keep her seat on the town council for another year until her term is up.

Dinah Mashburn ran unopposed for a two-year unexpired term left open by her husband who passed away just days before being re-elected to the board in the 2017 election. Dinah was appointed to fill Billy’s seat and had to run for the last remaining two years. She received 413 votes.
