UNC President visits WCU to discuss budget needs

University of North Carolina System Interim President Bill Roper joined Chancellor Kelli R. Brown to tour the campus of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee on Thursday, March 5,  to highlight the critical needs facing the university as a result of the current state budget stalemate.

Roper toured WCU’s Steam Plant, located at 13 Central Dr in Cullowhee. The aging plant is in need of $16.5 million in upgrades to provide reliable heat and hot water for students and faculty. Following the tour,  Roper and Brown delivered remarks and took questions from the media.
