Swain students win softball title

Two Swain Middle School eighth graders helped their softball team win a tournament title during the Native American Youth Organization Tournament hosted by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians July 22-24.

Pitcher Suri Watty and catcher Carley Teesateskie are both members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and played on the Mississippi Sparks 12U team. The Sparks, coached by MCBI Chief Cyrus Ben, went undefeated to take the title.
