Hazardous waste collection event
The Haywood County Solid Waste Department will be holding a spring household hazardous waste collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18.
During this event, Haywood County residents are encouraged to drop off household pollutants free of charge. Haywood County has partnered with Consolidated Waste Services and EcoFLo who will have representatives on hand to collect the non-pesticide.
The following items will be accepted during the Household Hazardous Waste event: aerosols, mixed solvents, mercury and articles, solid pesticides, acid cleaners, PCB ballast, paint related material, lab packs, latex paint, lead acid batteries, alkaline batteries, NiCad batteries, lithium batteries, propane (grill and camp size), fluorescent bulbs, oil filters, fire extinguishers, antifreeze, motor oil, kerosene, diesel fuel, transmission fluid and hydraulic oil.
The event will be held at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) located at 278 Recycle Road, Clyde.
This event is for Haywood County residents. Please don’t bring or drop off items before the event. Early drop-offs could incur fees and fines.
