Guitarist Pete Friedman to play at Sylva library

The Jackson County Public Library in Sylva will host a free concert by local guitarist Pete Friedman at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 in the community room.

Friedman, who lives in Whittier, is known for his unique fingerpicking style. He is also a composer, teacher and musicians’ mentor who for the past 11 years been accompanist at Whittier United Methodist Church. From 1966 to 1972, he played lead guitar in “The Second Foundation,” an underground band in New York City. He has also backed singer-songwriter Kath Bloom.
