Class to demonstrate mountain landscapes
Landscape artist and instructor in watercolor painting and drawing Sandra Brugh Moore of Asheville will demonstrate watercolor techniques in a mountain landscape for Art League of the Smokies at 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 6 at Swain County Center for the Arts in Bryson City. The event is free and open to the public.
Moore will show how to create layers of mist on the mountains using negative space painting techniques. She’ll use five basic steps beginning with a small value sketch to design the painting.
Moore teaches an ongoing watercolor techniques class in the North Carolina Community College System and holds workshops and gives demonstrations in the Western North Carolina.
Many of her subjects are found in her own backyard and include sun filtering through the woods, the early morning fog creeping into the cove, sunsets and sunrises.
Moore’s paintings can be seen at the Asheville Gallery of Art and at Main Street Artist’s Co-op in Waynesville.
