Community asked to weigh in on regional bike plan
The Land-of-Sky Regional Council will host a round of community input meetings Nov. 5 through Dec. 6 to gather input for a regional bicycling plan.
The organization was awarded a grant from N.C. Department of Transportation in August 2011 to undertake a regional bike plan study for seven counties in Western North Carolina, including Jackson, Swain and Haywood.
The study will continue through June 2013, and the ultimate goal is to develop a regional bicycle plan that will help guide future local transportation investment. Residents can attend the meetings and provide comments and suggestions on where and what type of facilities they would like to see in the region.
The initiative is called the Blue Ridge Bike Plan.
