Mural project aimed at renewal
A mural project called “On Hallowed Ground” aims to honor the heritage of Dillsboro, showcase artistic talents and lend a hand in the revitalization of the village.
The heritage mural will tell the story of Dillsboro. It’s a tale of feuds, hardships and extremely tough work. The town of Dillsboro will benefit from this project as it is intended to be a reawakening of the heart of the town, a journey to being an art destination and a thriving town again.
It will take nine months to paint the mural, which will be placed in Dillsboro and unveiled on Oct. 5, 2013 to begin the annual “ColorFest - Art & Taste of Appalachia festival.”
The mural project, created by Doreyl Ammons Cain, will raise funds through Kickstarter. Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects full of ambitious, innovative and imaginative energy that are brought to life through the direct support of others.
Those who make a pledge to assist with the project will receive an original limited edition art print of the mural in Nov. 2013.
