Contest captures state’s natural beauty
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has announced the winners of the eighth annual Wildlife in North Carolina magazine outdoor photo competition.
One of those winner was Scott Hotaling, who hails from Cullowhee. His picture of frozen field near Balsam to win first place in the wild landscapes category. Hotaling also won first place in the outdoor recreation category for a photo of a hiker. There were eight categories in total, plus two youth categories.
All winners will be published in the upcoming edition of Wildlife in North Carolina magazine. The photographs also will be exhibited at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, along with special showings throughout the year at other museums and wildlife education centers across the state.
