Biden and Trump have major flaws

To the Editor:

Glenn Duerr certainly painted an ugly picture of Donald Trump while making Joe Biden look like an angel with wings. People tend to do that when they hate someone. They also ignore the faults of those they love and who agree with them. Let's be honest — Biden has major flaws.

Trump ignores biblical wisdom

To the Editor:

Donald Trump persists in declaring himself “an innocent man.” Yet, juries of his peers believe otherwise. In the E. Jean Carroll case. The New York civil fraud trial. And, the Stormy Daniels hush money trial.

Military leaders need to speak up

To the Editor:

It isn’t often that I feel vindicated, but my hat is off to Max Boot at The Washington Post for declaring that “Trump’s generals have one last duty to perform, they must tell American voters what they saw first-hand: their former boss is unfit to serve as commander-in-chief.”

Yes, indeed, Thomas Paine!

To the Editor:

The indictment of former President Donald J. Trump in the Southern District of Florida on June 8 is only 44 pages long.

Law-and-order Republicans are silent

To the Editor:

It is truly disheartening to see the response of elected Republicans to the indictment of Donald Trump.

Insurrection: WNC leaders react

In the interest of transparency, all responses from local officials regarding the Jan. 6 insurrection have been published online, in their entirety. Some submissions may have been lightly edited for grammar, spelling and punctuation or to conform with AP style.

Trump administration criticized for implementation of landmark conservation law

Environmental groups are decrying the Trump Administration’s execution of the Great American Outdoors Act and the Dingell Act, which permanently reauthorized the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The acts were hailed as major bipartisan victories providing sorely needed funding for maintenance and conservation of public lands, with Trump signing both into law.

Some WNC Republicans won’t back Trump-endorsed candidate

As Republicans across North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District head to the polls, some of them are bucking their party and their president by putting principle over politics.
