Haywood Community College Foundation hosts fall concert to support Haywood Strong Scholarship
The Blue Ridge Orchestra ushers in the new season with a Halloween-themed concert at HCC.
The event, to be held on Saturday, October 28 at 3:00pm will feature The Well-Tempered Wizard concert which includes music from Bach, Mozart, and more.
From the opening chords of Bach’s celebrated Toccata and Fugue in D Minor to the closing strains from the score of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Music Director Milton Crotts has designed a program that evokes the spirit of Halloween. Works from the classical music world – Mozart’s Don Giovanni Overture, Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabra, and Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King – are complemented with selections from Broadway’s Wicked and Phantom of the Opera.
Priscilla Anderson, Orchestra Manager for the Blue Ridge Orchestra shares “The Orchestra is delighted to extend its collaboration with Haywood Community College, where one of our October and December programs will be performed this season. Sharing fine music with all of Western North Carolina is central to the ensemble’s mission.”
All proceeds from ticket sales will support the Haywood Strong scholarship, providing scholarships to displaced millworkers and their families.
