Climate speaker comes to Haywood

Climate speaker comes to Haywood

The Environmental Action Community of Western North Carolina (EAC) will host renowned speaker Andrew Jones, at the Terrace Hotel Auditorium (689 N.  Lakeshore Drive, Lake Junaluska) from 6:30-8 p.m. May 15 in a free interactive presentation on climate, resilience and action.

Andrew Jones is the co-founder and Executive Director of Climate Interactive, an international organization that creates dynamic system models to show policy makers, leaders and communities how they can best address climate impacts. He also teaches climate policy at MIT, UNC-Chapel Hill and other universities.

Jones will use his interactive models on a large screen to generate audience participation and show us how what we choose affects the larger outcomes.

This event promises to not only get the audience involved, it will also encourage people to consider new perspectives and surprise them along the way. Everyone is welcome, no need to pre-register.

At our inception 20 years ago, we chose to be different. Unlike other news organizations, we made the decision to provide in-depth, regional reporting free to anyone who wanted access to it. We don’t plan to change that model. Support from our readers will help us maintain and strengthen the editorial independence that is crucial to our mission to help make Western North Carolina a better place to call home. If you are able, please support The Smoky Mountain News.
