Gypsy jazz, swing at Classic Wineseller

art stompersThe 9th Street Stompers will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, at The Classic Wineseller in Waynesville.

Their sound brings to mind a musical era when the lines between blues, swing, gypsy jazz, rockabilly and tango weren’t nearly as hard and fast as the drinking and dancing. The group consists of three well-dressed “Dapper Dan” man-types who play acoustic instruments and sing about life, death, love and liquor.

The band has toured throughout the U.S. and appeared on NPR’s Chattanooga-based Scenic City Roots, sister show to the Nashville-based Music City Roots. Influenced by the great gypsy jazz musician, Django Reinhardt, and other greats like Stephane Grappelli and Oscar Aleman, the band’s approach to the music is impressive.

Show tickets cost $10 per person and can be purchased by calling 828.452.6000. Seating is limited. The full dinner and drink menu will be available.
