Fiddler brings Americana to Marianna
Americana fiddler Alma Russ will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at the Marianna Black Library in Bryson City.
Taking piano lessons at the age of 5, Russ first picked up a fiddle at the age of 10, which has been her main focus ever since. She has won several awards at Heritage Alive including Best of Show at Greening Up the Mountains in Sylva in 2012. She recorded fiddle for Mangas Colorado’s “Dawn” album and Owner of the Sun’s debut album, soon to be released. Her music is an Americana mix that is influenced by old-time, folk, gypsy jazz and blues.
The Friends of the Library will also be there to provide refreshments and snacks. Free.
