• Julie L. Reed will present her new book, “Land, Language, and Women: A Cherokee and American Educational History,” at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 19. Reed uses Cherokee teaching and learning traditions spanning four centuries to rethink Native American educational history. A citizen of the Cherokee Nation, she recently joined the history and anthropology departments at the University of Tulsa.

• Poet Donovan McAbee will read from his new collection, “Holy the Body,” with a musical per-formance by Grammy-nominated songwriter and guitarist Thomm Jutz at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 12. McAbee’s poems explore faith, doubt and dark humor. Jutz, based in Nashville, has had songs recorded by John Prine, Del McCoury, Billy Strings and The SteelDrivers and teaches songwriting at Belmont University.
City Lights presents ‘The Accident Report’
Ralph Ellis will discuss his new novel, "The Accident Report," in conversation with Susan Puckett at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at City Lights Bookstore in Sylva.
Set in the summer of 1974, the novel follows rookie reporter Ronald Truluck, stuck covering petty crimes in a North Carolina textile town until he uncovers a possible police cover-up involving a drunken city councilman.

• Elizabeth and Quintin Ellison will present “Land of Blue Shadows: Mountain Life in Verse & View” — a poetry and photography collaboration with the late George Ellison — at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14.
‘Stronger Than The Storm’
A reading for “Stronger Than The Storm: Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina” will take place from 5–7 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at City Lights Bookstore in Sylva. The collection features work from over two dozen contributors reflecting on last fall’s storm. Proceeds support ongoing Helene relief efforts.
'Doc Watson: A Life in Music'
Eddie Huffman will share his new book, “Doc Watson: A Life in Music.” and also be accompanied by musician Jerad Davis at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at City Lights Bookstore in Sylva.
City Lights welcomes Woloch, Sunshine
The following readings will occur at City Lights Bookstore in Sylva.
• Poets Cecilia Woloch and Louise Morgan Runyon will give readings of their poetry highlighting labor and social justice issues at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22. This reading celebrates the release of Woloch’s new chapbook, “Labor: The Testimony of Ted Gall.”

Rick Childers will share his debut novel, “Turkeyfoot,” in conversation with Meagan Lucas at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at City Lights Bookstore in Sylva.
